Job Description

Applies to personnel responsible for developing, qualifying, and maintaining 2D digital X-ray inspection techniques used for the evaluation of metallic and composite aerospace components, assemblies, and weldments in accordance with GE Aerospace specifications and governing industry standards (NAS-410 / EN-4179 / ASTM E2737 / ASTM E2597 / ASTM E2698). This role requires current Level 3 certification in Radiographic Testing (RT) in accordance with NAS-410 or EN-4179. 

Authority and Responsibilities:
  • Interpret, develop, and approve digital radiographic techniques and inspection procedures.
  • Evaluate and classify digital imaging systems per ASTM E2737 (DDA), ASTM E2597, and ASTM E2446 (CR).
  • Perform and/or review system qualification records and image quality evaluations.
  • Represent the discipline during audits, supplier qualifications, and customer technical reviews.
  • Interface with engineering, quality, and supplier development teams to ensure compliance to GE and regulatory requirements.
  • Achieve and maintain Certifying Agent status for final product acceptance and process authorization in accordance with GE Aerospace policy. 

Travel Requirement: 

Domestic and international travel may be required to perform supplier audits, training, system qualifications, and technical support at GE Aerospace facilities and approved suppliers.

Qualification RequirementsRequired Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years engineering, materials science, or related technical field engineering, materials science, or related technical field experience + minimum of 3 years engineering, materials science, or related technical field experience

Desired Characteristics:

  • Documented experience in industrial radiography (film or digital) per NAS-410 Table 1, meeting minimum time requirements for Level 3 certification.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ total NDT experience, with at least 2 years in radiography, including 1 year in digital radiography (DDA or CR/IP).
