We are looking for highly motivated individual with a proven track record in an aircraft maintenance environment who will ensure that the continuing airworthiness of the Aer Lingus UK Ltd (EUK) fleet is maintained by overseeing the CAMO services provided by the Aer Lingus Engineering Department. Specific focus will include but is not limited to ensuring the continuing airworthiness of the EUK fleet and providing management and oversight of the continuing airworthiness activities contracted and sub-contracted to the Aer Lingus M&E department and contracted to third party Part 145 Maintenance & Repair Organisations (MROs). The person(s) work as part of a small team and will report directly to the EUK Nominated Person – Continuing Airworthiness.

Role title
Continuing Airworthiness Engineer
Your role
As a Continuing Airworthiness Engineer, your role is to ensure that aircraft remain airworthy throughout their operational life by managing compliance with maintenance programs and regulatory requirements. Our Maintenance & Engineering Department helps us to drive Aer Lingus’ ambition by ensuring safety, efficiency, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
- Ensuring defects and damage affecting the safe operation are rectified to an approved standard.
- Monitoring of defect trends originating from aircraft undergoing maintenance and aircraft in-service so that any adverse trends are identified.
- Ensuring satisfactory completion and certification of all maintenance activity performed by contracted maintenance repair organisations, in accordance with the work specification.
- All aspects of maintenance activities performed in accordance with the approved maintenance organisations scope of approval and management systems.
- Agreement of heavy maintenance work scope and specifications (in conjunction with the Head of Airworthiness) with particular emphasis on ADs, SBs, modifications and repairs.
- Liaise with any operationally relevant external entities to ensure optimum operational performance of the airline fleet.
- Development of aircraft maintenance programmes where this function of airworthiness co-ordination has been sub-contracted by EUK in accordance with CAMO.A.125(d)(3).
- Reliability monitoring of aircraft and components to ensure the effectiveness of each type approved maintenance programme.
- Engine Condition Monitoring of in-service engines so that any adverse trends are identified and responded to promptly.
- Monitoring the maintenance forecast to ensure maintenance frequencies are not exceeded.
- Defect lifecycles are monitored and controlled.
- Ensuring work packages produced for EUK by the sub-contracted continuing airworthiness management organisation accurately reflect the required scheduled and unscheduled maintenance requirements.
- In conjunction with the CAMO team, oversight of the project planning of outsourced heavy base maintenance by EIN head of contracted maintenance (ScORG).
- Act as a resource and reference for stakeholders seeking to improve IMS performance.
- Undertake specific activity and projects to support the development of CAMO.A.125(d)(3) activity within the IMS.
- Assist in developing meaningful process related compliance, performance and risk metrics for “Core Process” ensuring each has a meaningful process metric developed.
- Root cause identification and risk analysis of non-conformances to facilitate prioritisation and identify to stakeholders’ opportunities for further improvement actions at the process level.
- Coordination of SMS activities on behalf of the Continuing Airworthiness function.
- Timely closure of non-conformances from the compliance monitoring system, and actions from the Safety Action Group & Safety Review Board.
Your qualifications and key criteria
To be considered for the role of Continuing Airworthiness Engineer, candidates must meet the following:
- Good working knowledge of AMOS and Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Part 66 AML, Engineering Degree, or relevant OEM/Industry training.
- 1-year relevant work experience from the aeronautical industry.
- Good interpersonal, written & verbal communication skills, and capable of dealing with people at all levels, both inside & outside Aer Lingus.
- Ability to work on own initiative, whilst contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Excellent maintenance planning skills.
- Knowledge of Airbus Technical Documentation.
- Experience in writing technical work instructions and technical reports.
- Experience in interpreting Manufacturers Publications.
- General familiarisation course on the type(s) of A/C operated.
- CAMO personnel should have adequate knowledge of the design information and aircraft configuration (type specification, customer options, airworthiness directives (ADs), airworthiness limitations contained in the aircraft ICA, modifications, repairs, operational and emergency equipment) and of the required and performed maintenance. The status of aircraft configuration and maintenance should be adequately documented to support the management system. For CS-25 aeroplanes, adequate knowledge of the airworthiness limitations and fuel tank system airworthiness limitations including critical design configuration control limitations (CDCCL)
- Demonstrable competency in: UK CAA Part CAMO and Part T regulation,Management System principles & Just Culture.
- Eligible to live and work in the UK.
- Hold a current unrestricted worldwide passport.
- Able to pass a strict airport security vetting procedure which includes a 5 year background check* or be in possession of a current airside pass for the airport this position is based in the UK.

Desirable criteria
Accredited Auditor Training.
Have previously held ARC renewal and recommendation for another UK Carrier.
At least five (5) years experience in continuing airworthiness.
Hold an appropriate Part 66 AML in category B1 in the subcategory of the aircraft reviewed or, a category B2 licence or, a category C licence, or an aeronautical degree or equivalent.
Have completed formal aeronautical maintenance training e.g. Apprenticeship.
