PURPOSE: The Material Coordinator is responsible for sourcing and coordinating the logistics of all critical part requirements, time change components, and minimizing stock outages. The role includes managing the base buy guide and coordinating current and future needs to best support TechOps requirements while working within budgetary constraints. This involves sourcing aircraft parts, transferring parts, initiating purchase orders and borrow agreements, exchange orders, and expediting existing orders.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Handle AOG, MEL, NEF, and scheduled removal of materials per maintenance requirements
- Monitor and Maintain inventory levels
- Support the MSC to ensure parts are available to adhere to the maintenance schedule
- Coordinate and expedite the transfer of parts, expedite open purchase orders, create borrow and rental orders
- Track and manage supplier discrepancies, turn times, and competitiveness
- Track and control all loaned and borrowed parts
- Manage contractual agreements to ensure cores and loaners are returned within the required time limit to ensure compliance
- Process all unserviceable material that will go out for repair and ensure unserviceable material is returned to our partner(s) within the allotted time to avoid penalties
- Establish a process flow that moves inventory to meet all maintenance requirements (i.e., expedite repair orders, update records, cut waste, and tracks the parts from aircraft removal to AMOS update, and final transportation to our partner)
- Ensure effective shipping strategies are in place to expedite the delivery of parts, reduce transportation costs, and increase efficiency within immaterial services
- Establish KPIs that track our performance, find areas of improvement, and measure cost efficiencies
- Achieve performance measures within budgetary restraints through continuous improvement.
- Monitor the market for PMA opportunities and competitiveness to ensure our shipping methods meet our needs.
- Use our network to balance stock to support TechOps requirements
- Minimize AOG and expedite fees
- Minimize priority, next day, and hot shot shipments
- Collaborate with MX and Planning to develop a forecasting model
- Use a pre-pick process to establish kits for nightly maintenance requirements
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives including JIT concept, supplier partnerships, and PMA possibilities
- Streamline logistic flow and repair cycles to ensure prompt return of components
- Establish and manage Min/Max requirements

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- 3+ years of experience in airline/aviation materials handling.
- 2+ years of purchasing experience and/or inventory planning and logistics.
- Previous experience with sourcing and managing materials for AOG events.
- General understanding of FAA regulations, including FAR part 121 operations.
- High performance orientation, ability to work well under pressure, prioritize projects, meet deadlines, and maintain flexibility.
- Self-initiative and the ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Show the ability to work through complexity to identify root causes and develop effective and simple solutions.
- Tenacious problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to work 12-hour shifts (4 days on and 4 days off).
- Must be able to pass a ten-year background check and obtain an airport security badge.
- Must have a valid state-issued driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record.
