Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Tax to join our team. This role will oversee multiple areas of tax and functions, including federal, state and local tax, compliance, reporting, planning, and strategy.
The Director will manage a wide range of tasks critical to the effective operation of the tax organization and offer hands on support in complete key job duties. As one of the departmental leaders, the Director is expected to have expert knowledge in order to review and analyze tax positions to effectively incorporate those for cash tax planning, financial statement reporting, and compliance. In addition, the Director will direct day-to-day tax operations and promote connectivity with colleagues across the business through a proactive, outward reaching culture. This role will develop and supervise a team of professionals to ensure adherence to departmental timelines, maintain compliance procedures and controls.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background as a ‘generalist’ with the ability to manage complex tax issues in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the accurate and timely preparation of all US tax.
- Manage and review US tax provision calculations.
- Manage and assist with US tax controversy matters to ensure effective resolution and incorporate adjustments to calculations and or process as necessary.
- Prepare/review analysis of complex issues, such as revenue recognition, method changes, transferrable renewable energy tax credits, etc.
- Provide tax support for M&A activities, including managing tax due diligence and tax planning.
- Stay ahead and maintain in-depth knowledge of emerging tax developments that might impact the Company, assess implications and recommend planning strategies.
- Provide proficient and comprehensive support for U.S. international tax laws including GILTI, BEAT, FDII, Subpart F and foreign tax credit.
- Connect and manage relationships with colleagues across the business and external advisors to resolve issues, develop strategies and improves processes.
- Build and improve on the company’s ability to manage tax reporting, compliance and risk management, through developing people, redesigning processes, and/or exploring new/available technology solutions.
- Maintain effective internal controls and tax governance practices to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of tax filings and reporting.
- Develop and conduct training sessions for internal stakeholders on tax topics, ensuring teams across the business understand key tax issues and the company’s tax strategies.
- Develop and motivate a team of professionals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Tax, or other related field with a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.
- Minimum of 12 years of relevant tax experience
Preferred Additional Skills:
- CPA license, Masters in Tax or JD preferred
- Prior experience in a multinational corporate tax department and/or Big 4 public accounting firm
- Strong understanding of US GAAP tax accounting rules and pronouncements
- Advanced knowledge of tax provision/compliance software, processes and technology
- Intermediate/advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
- Proven record of intellectual curiosity, high standards and ethical values
- Strong leadership presence and business acumen to influence across levels and functions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior management and external stakeholders
- Must be a team player with ability to effectively motivate colleagues
- Strong judgement and sound decision-making ability, while balancing details and accuracy with analytical skills
- Must have proven organizational skills and the ability to take ownership and work autonomously.
- Flexibility and ability to work to meet tight time lines is crucial.
