Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research/Project Engineer to join our engineering team. This role is integral to supporting the reverse engineering and design of precision aerospace components, contributing directly to the development of FAA-approved replacement parts (PMA).

The ideal candidate will assist in technical research, design documentation, and cross-departmental coordination while collaborating with external vendors and suppliers.

An Airframe and/or Powerplant (A&P) License is preferred but not required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the reverse engineering and design of aerospace components, ensuring compliance with FAA standards and industry best practices.
  • Prepare comprehensive engineering reports and data packages for FAA approval and certification.
  • Conduct detailed research using aircraft technical documentation, including Illustrated Parts Catalogs (IPCs), Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs), and Structural Repair Manuals (SRMs), to identify new PMA opportunities.
  • Review, verify, and update technical drawings, specifications, and FAA submittals for accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and internal departments to track project milestones, materials, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate packaging and shipments of components and materials while maintaining proper documentation and handling procedures.
  • Maintain organized project files and engineering documentation in accordance with company and FAA standards.

Perform additional tasks and provide support as assigned by the General Manager

Job Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field (preferred).
  • Experience with AutoCAD/SolidWorks required; proficiency in creating and interpreting 2D/3D models and engineering drawings.
  • Prior experience in the aviation or aerospace industry strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with FAA regulatory requirements and engineering documentation practices is a plus.
  • Proficient in interpreting IPCs, CMMs, Repair Manuals, and Engineering Blueprints.
  • Skilled in using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.).
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Comfortable using basic hand tools for part inspections and handling.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Peachtree City, GA. Occasional travel to vendors or suppliers may be required.
