Job Summary

  • The Senior Manager Global Operations Performance & Excellence plays a pivotal role in delivering and supporting the embedding of Swissports operational standards and ways of working throughout the global network in a highly transformational environment.
  • Reporting to the Director Global Operations Performance & Excellence, the position works within the Global Operations team and together with the Cluster Managing Directors drives and implements the change to a global mindset.
  • You will be responsible for partnering with Swissport’s front line Station Managers in order to drive consistency on station for customer benefit and benefit of our people, upholding standards through ways of working, coaching and mentoring.
  • Being exposed to different professional and cultural challenges in various environments around the globe you will need to be above reproach in your standards. You will be working alongside Directors and Senior Executives and will need the ability to confidently interact and communicate with all levels within the organisation.
  • This role is critical in delivering transformation towards a world class standard in safety, leadership, operational consistency, with customer centricity at the heart of what we do and everything delivered with a global mindset.

Our Global Operations Performance & Excellence team is responsible for three key areas:

  1. Operational Standardisation Performance: Accountable for the transformation agenda related to our operational standards, excellence, and ways of working across the globe to deliver a consistent Swissport brand experience for all customers
  2. Operations Excellence: Develop, coach and mentor station management to deliver operational consistency and a continuous improvement mindset. This could be in the form of station start-ups, new customer start-ups, station support, managerial training, etc.
  3. Interim Management: Ad-hoc support of stations that require urgent operational (turnaround) assistance

Job Responsibilities:

  • Implement Swissports Operational Model across Swissports regional clusters including, global standards, processes and tools, all with a clear strategy and roadmap including continuous quantification and reporting
  • Foster an efficient and high-performance continuous improvement mindset that drives faster execution of plans and better utilization of assets on local level across Swissports global organization
  • Co-ordinate cadence to ensure effective communications and delivery of actions on local level across Swissports global organization
  • Provide temporary, operational and management support to the global organization as business development opportunities materialize (major customer start-ups, opening of new stations, etc.)
  • Assure and support seasonal readiness of Swissports operational units (adequate planning / preparation, successful execution of plans, support in specialized areas like winter operations)
  • Provide interim management for organizational units on short notice both on station management level and in specialized functions; support provision of interim resources on front-line level via Swissports global organization

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Required years of experience in aviation Management: (5-8)
  • Extensive people management experience at mid to senior level with the ability to motivate & inspire all in the achievement of corporate, departmental and individual objectives
  • Play a key role in organizational culture & style whereby all colleagues are empowered & valued
  • Proven track record in managing change in both business development and delivery
  • Organizational skills and ability to structure and coordinate a range of duties and meet deadlines
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships both internally and external with customers and stakeholders
  • High level negotiation and influencing skills with managers, staff and customer
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and excellent IT skills including MS office
  • Self-motivated and able to work to deadlines / targets and respond to business needs
  • Work alone or part of a specialist team under pressure
  • Requirement for extensive travel and on occasion at short notice
  • Flexible approach to working outside normal hours will be required
  • Language skills a distinct advantage
  • Full driving license is beneficial
  • Train the Trainer and L1 audit trained qualification – required in first 6 months
