The Sub-Section Manager demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.The Integrated Manufacturing Engineering (IME) PMC sub-section manager will be responsible for leading a team of composite design engineers and engineers in the shop at selection part manufacturers. The Integrated Manufacturing Engineering (formerly Production Technologies) Department works in a cross-functional environment that is focused on delivering high quality aerospace composite hardware to meet our customer needs and business demands. Within this role you will have the opportunity to support all composite hardware applications across our entire legacy commercial engine fleet, you will work closely with internal and external composite suppliers and the essential cross-functional domestic and global teams that support hardware production.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Work closely with Materials, Supply Chain and Quality to meet the needs of the business for product delivery, cost and producibility for non-metallic components across the business
- Support production issues as needed
- Requires specialized knowledge within the aerospace composite applications. Influence the development of strategy for the design support of new make composite part production and design, including control of resources and policy formulation.
- Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
- Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders.
- Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and technical direction for assigned program tasks and personnel
- Provide support council and recommendations to section management
- Establish work group goals within framework of section technical and financial objectives
- Maintain broad awareness of efforts within group to assure technical quality excellence, timely completion of work and reviews, appropriate use of resources, and responsiveness to customer / program needs
- Facilitate communication of technical and business information between organizations and within work group
- Communicate with management on technical, organizational, resource and personnel issues
- Define roles and responsibilities for assigned personnel
- Conduct performance appraisals and participate in salary planning
- Promote professional growth through timely performance feedback, coaching and counseling
- Ensure company compliance initiatives and training requirements are implemented within work group
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science or Masters degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science
- At least 5 additional years of experience in a program or project leadership role within an engineering environment

- Background in mechanical design and FEA of composite hardware
- Strong program management experience and digital management tool familiarity
- Strong understanding of aviation regulatory agencies (FAA / EASA) and how to interpret and applying certification requirements to the design of composite hardware
