Assembler / Composite Technician - Weekly Pay!!

Job Description

I am seeking qualified candidates to join our team as an assembler/composite technician! A Composite Technician fabricates, assembles, and repairs advanced composite structures using materials such as carbon fiber, Kevlar, and fiberglass. Working under supervision, this role involves preparing molds and forms, performing material lay-up and lamination, trimming and finishing parts to precise blueprint specifications, and assembling components using structural adhesives and mechanical fasteners. The technician supports both assembly and lamination operations, ensures consistent quality through careful inspection and documentation, and maintains a safe, organized, and fast-paced work environment while collaborating closely with engineering, quality, and fabrication teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of molds and forms for composite lay-up and assembly.
  • Mark and cut tape, woven materials, honeycomb, adhesives, and similar materials using templates, guides, or specified dimensions and sequences.
  • Perform lay-up of composite materials onto molds, carefully placing and smoothing successive layers to eliminate wrinkles, air pockets, and voids.
  • Route, drill, trim, and sand composite parts to blueprint dimensions and tolerances using hand and power tools.
  • Operate vacuum press equipment as required to cure composite structures according to process specifications.
  • Assemble aircraft and composite components using structural adhesives, rivets, threaded fasteners, and other mechanical hardware.
  • Perform part alignment and fit-up of composite parts and subassemblies, ensuring correct orientation and fit per engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Apply structural adhesives, sealants, and bonding agents using proper techniques to achieve strong, durable bonds and prevent contamination.
  • Install mechanical fasteners such as rivets, bolts, and screws, verifying torque values and placement according to specifications.
  • Integrate hardware such as inserts, bushings, and brackets, and mate composite parts with metallic and non-metallic elements to build complex structures.
  • Prepare bonding and finishing surfaces by sanding, cleaning, and treating as required to ensure optimal adhesion and structural integrity.
  • Work closely with engineering, quality, and fabrication teams to resolve assembly challenges and contribute to process improvements.
  • Support the quality process by maintaining an orderly work area, returning tools, equipment, and materials to designated storage locations.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, receiving assignments from a lead, completing tasks independently or with guidance as appropriate, and requesting new assignments upon completion.
  • Use grinders, saws, sanders, power sanders, sanding blocks, and various adhesives to cut, shape, and finish carbon fiber and other composite parts.
  • Lift and handle assemblies weighing up to 50 lbs while following proper ergonomic and safety practices.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to verbally communicate clearly and effectively, and to read and comprehend written and verbal instructions, detailed blueprints, and authorized drawings and documents.
  • Capability to perform basic mathematical calculations required for measurements and layout.
  • 1–2 years of experience working with pre-preg composites, including carbon fiber, Kevlar, and fiberglass, in assembly or lamination environments, or equivalent hands-on composite experience.
  • Proficiency using hand tools such as rollers, paper cutters, scissors, X-Acto knives, electric heat guns, and fixtures such as molds and mandrels.
  • Ability to use measuring instruments such as scales, protractors, and calipers to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Familiarity with common shop tools such as band saws, disk sanders, drill presses, wood lathes, grinders, and similar equipment.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and comfort working with hands-on tasks, assembly, fabrication, or mechanics.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings to perform accurate lay-up, trimming, drilling, and assembly.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality, with the ability to identify defects, inconsistencies, and deviations from specifications.
  • Willingness and ability to follow established safety procedures, including potential respirator use if required.
  • Strong work ethic and work stability, with a consistent employment history and reliability in attendance and performance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in entry-level composite technician roles within assembly and lamination departments.
  • Hands-on experience with composite lay-up, lamination, and curing processes using materials such as carbon fiber, Kevlar, and fiberglass.
  • Experience with inspection and quality assurance activities related to composite parts and assemblies.
  • Familiarity with composite repair techniques and finishing processes, including sanding, contour shaping, and painting.
  • Experience using vacuum press equipment and other composite processing tools.
  • Comfort working with various adhesives, sealants, and bonding agents in structural applications.
  • Ability to perform simple documentation of process steps, parameters, and deviations in production or quality systems.
  • Trainable mindset with a desire to build, learn, and quickly pick up new techniques and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with leads, engineering, quality, and fabrication teams to resolve issues.
  • Potential to obtain or maintain respirator certification, if required for specific tasks.
  • Comfort using hand and power tools for cutting, grinding, sanding, and drilling, both in professional and personal settings.

Why Work Here?

This opportunity offers a strong pathway for professional growth, with the goal of conversion to a long-term role after a six-month contract period. You can develop advanced skills in composite manufacturing while working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that values safety, quality, and continuous learning. Eligible employees may access a comprehensive benefits package that can include medical, dental, and vision coverage; critical illness, accident, and hospital plans; a 401(k) retirement plan with pre-tax and post-tax contribution options; voluntary life and AD&D insurance for employees and dependents; short- and long-term disability coverage; a Health Spending Account (HSA); transportation benefits; an Employee Assistance Program; and paid time off or leave such as PTO, vacation, or sick leave. Eligibility requirements, available benefits, and plan details depend on job classification, length of employment, and specific program terms, and benefits are subject to change.

Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing environment that is generally loud and fast paced, with frequent use of shop equipment such as band saws, disk sanders, drill presses, grinders, wood lathes, and vacuum presses. Day-to-day work involves receiving technical assignments from a lead, who determines whether tasks can be completed independently or require shadowing and guidance. Once an assignment is completed, technicians return to the lead for the next task, promoting continuous workflow and learning. Typical daily activities include cutting carbon fiber parts, operating saws and sanders, using power sanders and sanding blocks, and working with various adhesives, coatings, and composite materials. The position may require extended hours to meet production schedules and involves regular lifting of assemblies up to 50 lbs. Safety procedures are emphasized, and some tasks may require respirator use depending on materials and processes. The environment supports structured processes, clear instructions, and close collaboration with leads, engineering, quality, and fabrication teams to ensure high-quality composite structures.
