STS Technical Services is actively seeking a Production Supervisor 5 to join our client’s automotive manufacturing facility in Lansing, Michigan. This is a third-shift opportunity offering you the chance to lead a medium to large production team while driving continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.
Position Overview:
In this role, you’ll oversee third-shift operations and provide leadership in the areas of Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). You’ll ensure operational excellence by promoting safety, maintaining high standards, and aligning production goals with broader business objectives. Candidates should have a strong background in automotive manufacturing and stamping.
Job Location & Shift Details:
- Location: Lansing, Michigan
- Shift: Monday through Friday, 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM
- Additional Hours: Must be available to work 2–3 Saturdays per month
- Flexibility: Willingness to rotate shifts as needed
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily plant production operations
- Promote a safe, clean, and organized work environment through regular safety talks and ergonomic evaluations
- Conduct job instruction training and lead safety incident investigations
- Optimize use of personnel, materials, and equipment to meet production targets
- Support employee development through communications, training plans, performance tracking, and job rotation
- Collaborate with union (UAW) leadership to address and resolve issues
- Ensure adherence to local and national labor agreements
- Maintain accurate department records and report developments to management
- Set and communicate quality standards and resolve quality issues through root cause analysis
- Interface with customers regarding quality concerns and implement corrective actions
- Monitor production output to align with scheduling and budgetary needs
- Ensure compliance with GM-GMS guidelines and manufacturing best practices
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- 2 to 3 years of automotive manufacturing experience required
- 2 to 3 years of stamping experience strongly preferred
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Experience working in a unionized environment is a plus
