Industrial Architect – Wing Systems (12‑Month Contract)
Location: Filton (60 on-site)
IR35: Inside IR35
Security: BPSS to start, SC eligible
Hours: 35 per week (4.5‑day week)
Morson are recruiting an Industrial Architect to join a leading aerospace organisation supporting next‑generation aircraft wing programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to help design and optimise industrial systems for future wing manufacture, covering industrial concept development, production flow, capacity modelling and digital factory tools.
The Industrial Architect plays a key role in defining how new wings will be built — developing manufacturing system concepts, analysing industrial performance, and supporting the readiness and ramp‑up of new wing programmes.
You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, digital and programme teams, acting as a technical integrator for all industrial system inputs.
Key Responsibilities
Support the development and optimisation of the industrial system for new and future wing programmes, including:
Industrial System Design
Contribute to early industrial concepts for future wing architectures
Define production flows, takt time, cycle time, saturation and throughput
Analyse rate capability and assess industrial readiness
Lean & Line Design
Support the deployment of lean line design principles
Produce value stream maps for new industrial set‑ups
Identify bottlenecks and opportunities for flow optimisation
Industrial Performance & Modelling
Use capacity modelling and industrial simulation tools to validate system performance
Support the maturation of digital ramp‑up simulation tools
Contribute to industrial assessments and scenario modelling
Digital Factory Support
Assist with digital tool deployment including VR, digital twins and 3D experience platforms
Review digital industrial models and support their integration into programme planning
Collaboration & Governance
Work with engineering, manufacturing, operations and programme teams
Present industrial concepts and findings to internal stakeholders
Support project planning, risk management and progress reporting
Skills & Experience
Essential
Strong knowledge of wing assembly or aerostructure manufacturing
Experience in industrial or manufacturing engineering within aerospace
Understanding of takt time, cycle time, capacity modelling, OEE and flow principles
Ability to interpret technical data and make evidence‑based decisions
Confident communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders
Interest in solving complex industrial problems within a collaborative team
Desirable
Experience working with suppliers or research partners
Background in Lean Manufacturing
Exposure to Industry 4.0 concepts or digital factory tools
Experience of simulation, VR or 3DX environments
Benefits
Opportunity to support future wing concepts for advanced aircraft programmes
Work in a multinational technical environment across the UK and Europe
Exposure to innovative industrial technologies and manufacturing methods
Develop industrial architecture, leadership and project coordination skills
